You know what they say — you are what you eat. Same goes for flowers. Try this simple experiment and observe everything from stems to leaves to deep blooms for changes as the carnations drink water over the course of a few days.
Here’s how to get started.
Materials:
- White carnations
- Food coloring
- Water
- Vases (1 color per vase)
Instructions:
Step 1: Fill each glass or vase ¾ of the way with water.
Step 2: Add several drops of food coloring to each vase. The more color, the better.
Step 3: Place one carnation in each glass and observe what happens over the next few hours and days.
Step 4: Notice if one color seems to travel fastest to the petals.
Watch the magic happen right before your eyes!
