Practice counting to get your kid revved up for the New Year — without having them stay up until midnight. This sweet fruit salad prep ties in the STEM skills they learn on Blaze and the Monster Machines. Start by counting up the number of pieces that go into the fruit salad. Then count all the way down to ring in the brand new year.
Feel free to switch up the types and quantities of fruit according to your preferences. This recipe is as easy as 3, 2, 1!
(Difficulty Level: Easy)
What You’ll Need
(Serves 2)
10 grapes
9 blueberries
8 strawberry halves
7 clementine wedges
6 banana slices
5 chunks of pineapple
4 Tbsp of orange juice
3 cantaloupe wedges, chunked
2 kiwis, peeled and sliced
1 apple, cored and sliced
How to Make
Step One: Help your child to count each piece of fruit that goes into your bowl. For a New Year’s twist, make sure the fruits count down from 10.
Step Two: Mix all the fruit together.
Step Three: It’s time to serve your salad! Ask your child to count how many pieces of each fruit they have on their plate. Then, have them count down as they eat. This is an easy and nutritious way to practice counting with your little one.
Have a happy and healthy New Year!
