These are the job requirements of a ninja. What?! You don’t know how to bake? Time to train in the art of gingerbread cookies. Here’s a recipe that’ll mutate you into a true master.
What You’ll Need
Gingerbread cookie dough, homemade or store-bought
Gingerbread man cookie cutter
Icing in green, yellow, orange, purple, blue, red, white, and black
Toothpicks
How to Make
Step One: Preheat oven according to the directions in your favorite gingerbread cookie dough recipe. Roll out dough and have your kid help cut you cut out gingerbread men with the cookie cutter. Bake according to directions.
Step Two: Allow cookies to cool completely. Use the green icing to completely fill in the head and body of the gingerbread man. Once green icing has set, fill in the torso of the body with yellow icing. Using a toothpick, score the yellow torso into four quadrants, as seen in the photo.
Step Three: Now for the details! Using the photo for reference, use orange icing to create Mikey’s mask and arm bands. Allow to set.
Step Four: Dip a toothpick into the white icing and make two dots for Mikey’s eyes. Allow to set. Finally, dip a toothpick into the black icing and draw on Mikey’s pupils and smiling mouth. Set aside for icing to set completely. Repeat steps 2-4 for the rest of the batch.
