The original flag, made in 1978 by Gilbert Baker, was create to fly in the San Francisco Pride Parade. Its colors were meant to represent aspects of the LGBT movement.
RED is for life.
ORANGE is for healing.
YELLOW is for sunlight.
GREEN is for nature.
BLUE is for serenity.
PURPLE is for spirit.
INCLUSIVE: Recently, black and brown were added to be more inclusive of people of color.
